Tottenham
Hale Station
The station is the main interchange between British Rail and London Underground
for passengers from Stanstead Airport going to central London.
The work consisted of the construction of a number of canopies at various
levels to give weather protection to the existing platforms and to a new
footbridge with access stairs and escalator. There is also a new waiting
room with a curved roof attached to the platform canopies.
The platform canopies are two-pinned portal frames spanning over the
tracks and were designed to carry the forces from the overhead electric
lines. The structure of the waiting room consists of tapered steel frames
fabricated to a curved profile from steel plate and are connected to the
platform portals with a sliding joint to allow differential longitudinal
movement.
We are currently working on the refurbishment of both the adjoining London
Underground Station and the bus station with John Lyall Associates. |
